After a precisely 20-year gap (the last time was in 2003, shortly after I’d “retired” from Forced Exposure & was asked to DJ & was given a table for the low-traffic final day @ Metropolitan Pavillion, during which Ning Nong & I unloaded about 2,000 white-label promos from my Sales Manager days) I have decided to sell records again at the WFMU Record + CD Fair.
Those in the know, know that this is the domestic equivalent of a Record Planet, Champerret, etc. & that approximately 150 dealers will be bringing their most arcane, obscure, and impossible titles to flog. The fair has been on a pandemic-long hiatus & its return (this time to the prëëminent Queens techno temple Knockdown Center) is a huge cause célebrè!
I’ll be bringing approximately 300 titles of, largely, Early Electronic & Experimental Music (with smaller divisions for “Guitar” & “Jazz Free Improv Poetry” titles) of both the “$$” & “$$$” designations on LP, 7”, & 10” along with a few conversation-starter books & tapes. Much of this was hand-selected from the Creel Pone archive & I’d say conversatively about half of what I’ll be be bringing has never been available on Discogs, etc.
Come by early (the doors open at 11AM on Sat & close at 7pm Sunday) and make sure to say hello & crack a coffee/beer with me; we can commiserate on the pending demise of BandCamp while making fun of that “Grand Mêre” single. My buddy & Montez Press Radio Creel Pone Show co-host Jacob Gorchov will be next door offering his own selection of incredible music, so it’ll be a great 1-2-punch.
