Rest In Peace to easily one of the most important musical figures of the 20th & 21st Centuries; there’s simply too much to say/think/feel here, but I feel compelled to echo the conversation (which I’m glad I preserved on SoundCloud) between WNYU host Jonathan Gean, Éliane, & I during her stay in NYC around the 2010 “Propensity Of Sound” festival at Issue Project Room (the same at which “Issue Generator for Èliane Radigue” was performed & recorded).
It’s exactly as I’d remembered it, completely disarming & so wonderful to hear Éliane discuss her work & the contemporaneous performances of those first acoustic pieces in such an animated & matter-of-fact way. My favorite moment, after a long exposition on Charles Curtis & ‘Naldjorlak’:
“I told you… you ask me a question and after that you have to take a Kalashnikov to stop me!”
