Spectres 3 • Ghosts In The Machine
The book above is (finally) out, to which I contributed (credit largely due to the amazing “Writing Boss” skills of Carley Moore; I urge you to book her for a session if you are struggling with commissioned projects such as this) an essay entitled “Acchiappafantasmi,” expanding on the ideas of embracing the “inexplainable” in performance contexts (after an experience at Pete Margasak’s Frequency Festival just prior to the lockdown; even still, 21 months later, the last performance I have given in front of a ticketed audience).
The book itself should be available now either directly from Shelter Press or les presses du réel or via the trickle-down distribution arms of either (Boomkat in the UK & Forced Exposure here in the States, for example; as much as I love selling you things these days I did not end up with a quantity). Thrilled beyond compare to have words mixed up amongst those of Émilie Gillet, Steve Goodman, Florian Hecker, James Hoff, Roland Kayn, Ada Lovelace, Robin Mackay, Bill Orcutt, Matthias Puech, Akira Rabelais, Lucy Railton, Jean-Claude Risset, Sébastien Roux, & Peter Zinovieff (a particularly zesty goup; friends and/or personal heroes, all).
In addition to reading the printed word, the piece was also published online by the wonderful folks at Various-Artists (thanks to a generous stipend from the Swiss Arts Council • Pro Helvetia) and can be read on this eye-popping website:
